Share: News From Philippines!

PhilippinesThe Philippines, officially the Republic of the Philippines, is an island nation located in Southeast Asia, with Manila as its capital. It comprises 7,107 islands called the Philippine Archipelago, with a total land area of approximately 300,000 square kilometers or 116,000 square miles, making it the 72nd largest country by area. Modern day Filipinos are of Austronesian stock, although there is a minority of Filipinos with Chinese, Spanish, American, and Arab ancestry. Through its rich history, Philippine culture has many affinities with the West. Roman Catholicism is the predominant religion, and Filipino and English are the official languages (This portion of our site is licensed under the GNU Free Documentation License. It uses material from the Wikipedia article "Philippines").

Evangelical believers represent only 16.7% of the population of the Philippines (Patrick Johnstone and Jason Mandryk, Operation World. Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, 2005, pg. 521).

If you have a story or prayer request related to the Philippines, please feel free to share it with us. You must be a registered member of our site to submit a news story or prayer request, but don't worry — registration is free! Our hope is that this section of our site will become a venue where long-term missionaries, short-term missions teams, missions agencies, and believers with a heart for the Philippines can gather and discuss God's plan and desires for the people of the Philippines, encourage one another, share stories and prayer requests, etc.

I had the privilege of visiting the Philippines in 2000 and 2005. My first trip to the Philippines had such an impact on me personally that I felt part of me was missing when I left in the plane departing Davao. I found these fellow Christian Believers to be part of my long lost family and immediately fell in love with their passion, humility and love for God. When I returned in 2005 I felt it had been too long since my last visit, but again my heart was touched and united with the One Way Gospel Outreach and their ministerial fellowship that reaches 100’s of local churches through out the Philippines. I was additionally blessed to meet a true disciple of Christ ministering in Indonesia named Brother Timothy. He had lost 13 family members in the Tsunami that hit the beach at Aceh.
