Share: News From The Americas
Two continents. 42,213,600 square kilometers (approximately 30% of the world's land area). 51 different countries and territories. 1,183 different languages.
There is much to be thankful for when contemplating the work of God in the Americas.
In Latin America, the evangelical population has grown from 700,000 in 1900 to 55 million in 2000. Over 32 million of these are Pentecostal (28% of the world's Pentecostal population). The church is beginning to grow among Amerindians who, until recently, have been resistant to the gospel.
The growth of the evangelical population in North America is growing at a rate of 2% per year. North American contributions to the worldwide missionary enterprise have been extensive in the 20th and 21st centuries. 34% of all home and foreign missionaries are from North America ( Johnstone, Patrick and Mandryk, Jason. 2005. Operation World, 21st Century Edition. Milton Keynes, United Kingdom: Authentic Lifestyle).
Now, thanks to modern technology, we have a unique opportunity to create a collaborative record of God's work in the Americas.
Together, let's rejoice in the work of God in the Americas. "I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples. And I will sing praises to You among the nations." Psalm 108:3).
Our hope is that this section of our website will become a venue where long-term missionaries, short-term missions teams, missions agencies, missions pastors, and believers with a heart for world missions can gather and discuss God's plan and desires for the peoples of the Americas, encourage one another, share stories and prayer requests, etc. If you have a story or prayer request about the Americas that you would like to share, please select a country from the Destinations menu at right. Each country-specific page will give you an opportunity to share your own story or prayer request with the other members and visitors to this website.
You must be a registered member of our site to submit a news story or prayer request, but don't worry — registration is free!
Honduras Activity
- Posted by honduras_sfh on Mar 28, 2007 at 11:52 AM

Briefly I would like to take a moment a mention a few things that are taking place in Honduras. My name is Mark McClellan & am working in a evangelistic Bible school called The School for Harvesters. We are trying to raise up Honduran laborers who are able to 1. walk the Christian walk and 2. effectively share the gospel to those who need it.
International Student Ministry
- Posted by Bob Whattoff on Oct 03, 2006 at 06:28 PM

I’m like to share my enthusiasm for where the Lord has planted me and what He is giving me to do in His harvest field. I’ve been doing this for twenty years and am still excited about the opportunity to share the gospel with many people who have never heard it, even though some of them have Ph.D.’s I am involved in international student outreach at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. (That’s how I know Toby Meisenheimer, one of the founders of Mission Equip. Toby went through Jr. High and High School here.) My particular passion is reaching out to young, university professors from China who come here for sabbatical studies for several months.
A Divine Appointment In The Galapagos
- Posted by Staff on Aug 23, 2006 at 11:13 PM

Mark Batterson, the pastor of National Community Church in Washington, D.C., recently wrote an article about his church’s missions trip to the Galapagos Islands. In the article, Mark shares about how the Lord orchestrated a meeting between an unbeliever who was contemplating suicide because his wife had recently left him and a strong, Spanish-speaking believer on the NCC team who had also contemplated suicide when his wife left him 15 years ago.
Here’s an excerpt from Mark’s article:
Medical Project
- Posted by Tony Martinez on Jul 27, 2006 at 10:41 PM

There is a medical project that is in the middle of launching. The purpose of this medical project is to provide and enable Christian medical clinics and hospitals to maintain a database of their patients, in great detail. The founder and developer of this project, Rogers Hellman, is a wonderful man of God, who has given of his own time and personal resources, in order to make this happen. This project would provide hardware and software, such as wireless PDAs, laptop computers, servers, cellular phones, in order to give this project the flexibility and and technology necessary to accomplish its purpose.
Bilingual Christian Education
- Posted by Tony Martinez on Jul 11, 2006 at 09:07 PM

I wanted to share a prayer request and an opportunity to help further the Kingdom of God. In Orange Walk, Belize, which is the northern most province in Belize, there is a bilingual Christian school, called New Life Elementary School. This school is a tremendous outreach to the community of Orange Walk, which is the 3rd largest city in Belize. Currently, there are about 200 students enrolled in this school to receive a bilingual, Christian education. Over the past 4 or 5 years, the school has been experiencing a tremendous growth in number of applications from parents who want their children to attend this school. During these past few years, the impact that the Christian education has had on the children has impacted not only the children and the peers, but also their parents. The change that is seen in the students is a testimony that has more of an impact that we could ever have. At this point, we have finished the building of the elementary school, along with a chapel and gymnasium, however, in order for the Belizan government to give us the permit to open a Middle and High School, we need to purchase property and build more buildings to fit more students and adhere to the legalities that the government has implemented for education institutions. If you would like to know more about this Christian school and how it impacts the lives of the people in this community, please contact me, Tony Martinez at: . I am the Director for Central America for Impact International, a non-denominational organization, which has been serving the Lord in Latin America for over 50 years. Our website is: http://www.impactinternational.org. You can also contact the Director of the school, whose name is German Cob at: or . We look forward to hearing from you and I will also be posting more blogs in order to provide more information and also keep you posted on this tremendous ministry of educating the future of the world’s church.
